Johnny Van Zant, geboren in Jacksonville, Florida, am 27. Februar 1959 ist der jüngere Bruder des verstorbenen Ronnie Van Zant. Bekannt wurde Ronnie Van Zant durch die Band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Van Zant, dass sind Donnie und Johnny. Johnny, der im Schatten seiner Brüder aufwuchs und immer die zweite Geige somit war, kam durch den Tod von Ronnie Van Zant und anderer Mitglieder von Lynyrd Skynyrd 1977 zu ungeahnten Ehren. Machte ihn doch der Tod zum legitimen Nachfolger seines Bruders. Johnny bereits in der Vergangenheit als Musiker aktiv, schloss sich Ende der 80er Jahre der neuformierten Lynyrd Skynyrd Band an.

1980 nahmen die Brüder Donnie und Johnny Van Zant ihr erstes Album auf, welches unter dem Namen Johnny Van Zant erschien und den Titel „No more dirty Deals" hatte. Hier findet sich auch sein Tribute an seinen Bruder Ronnie „Standing in the Darkness".

1981 folgte dann sein zweites Album „Round Two", 1981, und 1982 erschien dann "Last of the Wild Ones". Danach wechselte er zu Gefen Records, wo 1985 dann das Album „Van Zant" veröffentlicht wurde.

Trotz einer gut laufenden Karriere gönnte er sich dann eine musikalische Pause.

Mit der Unstützung der wieder belebten Lynyrd Skynyrd Band feierte er sensationelle Wiedergeburt.

1998 erfüllte sich dann ein lang gehegter Traum von Johnny. Er ging zusammen mit seinem Bruder Donnie ins Studio und das Album "Brother to Brother" und "Van Zant II" auf.

Jetzt mit „Get Right With The Man" spannen die Brüder den Bogen von Southern Rock bis Country. Als Bonus finden sich die Texte in Digitaler Form auf dem Album, welches auch einen Player einbindet, mit dem es möglich ist das Album auf dem Computer ab zu spielen.

Johnny Van Zant born in Jacksonville, FL on February, 27th in 1959 is the youngest brother of deceased Ronnie Van Zant, who gained fame through the band Lynyrd Skynyrd. The known Van Zants were Donnie and Johnny, who grew up in the shadow of his brothers and therefore usually stood behind received unexpected glory due to the death of Ronnie Van Zant and other members of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1977 as his brother’s passing away made him his legitimate successor. Johnny who had been an active musician in the past joined the newly formed band Lynyrd Skynyrd in the end of the 80s.

In 1980 Donnie und Johnny Van Zant recorded their first album "No more dirty Deals" as Johnny Van Zant’s including his tribute to his brother Ronnie „Standing in the Darkness".

In 1981 his second album „Round Two" followed and in 1982 "Last of the Wild Ones" was published. He then moved on to Gefen Records, where the "Van Zant" album ws released in 1985.

In spite of his well running career he took some time out and then celebrated a sensational rebirth with the revived Lynyrd Skynyrd Band.

In 1998 a dream of Johnny’s for some time came true. He and his brother Donnie went to the studio and recorded the albums "Brother to Brother" and "Van Zant II".

And now with „Get Right With The Man" the brothers complete the circuit between rock and country. The album contains a player which makes it possible to play it on a computer and also a bonus: the lyrics in digital mode.
